What is an SSL certificate and why do I need one?
An SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) Certificate is an encryption method that allows for secure transfer and collection of sensitive information such as personal details and credit card information.
You will need an SSL Cerificate if you plan to accept credit card lines or collect sensitive personal information.
What's the difference between a shared SSL and a private one?
A private SSL is used only by you, and maintains your domain name through all transactions on your site. A shared SSL certificate is used by many other users on your web host and will jump to a different domain (the shared domain for the SSL) when you check out.
Although most web hosting comes with a free shared SSL certificate, we highly recommend you purchase a private SSL certificate for your site. The expense is nominal compared to the piece of mind you'll have knowing that your site is secure.
How can I accept payments on my website?
There are many ways to accept payments on your website, including using Paypal or similar services. If you want to process payments directly on your website, we recommend using a merchant account with authorize.net to securely run transactions on your site. We can recommend several merchant account providers for you.
Will I be able to update my products myself?
Yes. There is an admin area where you can login securely and add products, update products, check orders, change order status, and update all kinds of things on your site.
What shopping cart do you offer?
We currently use CRE Loaded, which is a version of OsCommerce. We have worked with several others and are always eager to give new carts a try.
How long will it take to finish my website?
A lot of variables go into this, so it's really hard to say. Depending on your availability when we are working on your project, we've been known to finish an e-commerce site in as little as a week. (That does not include product entry.)
Will you enter my products for me?
Yes, but we do charge for that service.
