I’ve always been a fast worker. Not just in regard to web design/development, but everything. If I’m cleaning the kitchen, I do it faster – faster than anyone else in my house at least! I respond to emails fast. I type fast. I get comments about this all the time. I guess I just expect that when you spend all day on the computer your fingers just know where to go. I don’t have any special training on keyboarding skills. I took typing (that’s how old I am) for one semester in high school and that is the extend of my education.
Apparently this is how I look when I type:
(Fast typing is my superpower.)
I think I’m just inclined to move fast and get things done. So when clients send me updates for their websites, I get them done and I get them done pretty quickly. It’s not always the same day (sometimes it is), but it’s usually within a day or two. To me this seems perfectly reasonable.
Apparently, this isn’t the norm in my field. I’ve had a lot of clients complain about previous companies they’ve worked with, when they’ve asked for updates or changes and it’s taken weeks or longer to get things done. I’m always surprised to hear this, because it’s just not in my nature to let things sit open ended like that. I love the feeling of getting something finished.
I don’t know what the average turnaround time is for the average web company. I feel like saying that most maintenance tasks can be completed with 1-2 days is very reasonable.
If you are looking for someone to maintain your site and want to be guaranteed same-day updates, unfortunately I don’t know anyone to send you to. But if you want to get updates done in a timely fashion, quickly, and end with a pleasant email exchange – I’m here for you.
