Have you heard about Google Business? If not, you may be missing out on some great advertising opportunities for free.
So what is Google Business? Have you ever done a Google search and seen results that are pinned on a map? Or the business info you are looking for on a search is posted to the right of the search results? For example, if you Google “Sumy Designs” here’s what you’ll see off to the right.
It’s got our location, photo, phone number, and a link to our website. Isn’t that nifty? You can just click right through to our website. It’s like free glorious advertising in Google. You can have that too! You can control what shows up in your local listing. You just have to tell Google what you want there.
Start by going to Google Business and clicking the “Start Now” button.
Next, you’ll be asked to locate your business. It’s possible that your business is already listed, and all you need to do is jazz up that listing. First, though, you’ll have to verify that you are the person responsible for that business. Usually that means they’ll mail you a postcard with a verification code to the business address. Once you receive that postcard, you can enter your verification code into Google Business, and then you’ll be free to update your listing.
What can you change? You can change your business phone number and address. You can add in your hours, a description, choose a listing category, your website, and add photos. It’s a great way to make your listing stand out above your competitors. And the best part, it’s absolutely free and it doesn’t take much time to do!
